ABSTRACT for ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

The annotated bibliography titled “Effects of COVID-19: Adolescent Mental Health” critically analyses the mental health repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescents. Using a comprehensive review of various studies, the annotations explore the increase in mental health disorders and substance use among adolescents during the pandemic period. The bibliography also underscores the importance of social support in buffering the negative psychological outcomes experienced by adolescents and emphasizes the dire need for robust intervention strategies and support systems. Moreover, it identifies vulnerable subgroups and contributing factors for increased susceptibility to mental health problems, such as pre-existing conditions and socioeconomic status. The findings of the annotated bibliography call for the urgent attention of stakeholders to alleviate the mental health burden borne by adolescents during the pandemic and highlight the necessity for future research in this field.
